FAQ CALIBRATION & MEASUREMENT

It is an activity where the instrument being tested is compared to a known reference value/higher reference standard.

Calibration helps to minimise measurement uncertainty and improve the accuracy of the measuring equipment so that the measurements taken are accurate and reliable.

On top of that, this calibration supports the standard requirement needs where the precision of instruments is required for demonstration of compliance to, such as ISO 9001, 14001, 18001, ISO/TS 16949 and etc.

Not all instruments need to be calibrated. Only those instruments that used for measuring purposes or having measurement element on it that impacts the Quality of Product/Service should be calibrated.

If you are unsure whether your instruments can be calibrated or not, you may send your equipment name, model number, range and other details through “Request for Quotation” button above or contact us at marketingSA@sirim.my . We will be happy to assist you.

You can send to SIRIM Calibration at our branches, as our laboratories are accredited to ISO/IEC 17025.

Accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025, means;
  • Our management system meets international standards requirements, technical staff is competent, the measuring standards used are reliable and measuring data is traceable.

Cheap is not always necessarily good.

In calibration services, the calibration fee and turnaround time are determined by;

  • Complexity of calibration standard equipment that used for calibration
  • Calibration protocol as required by international standards
  • Minimum time required for preparation of some calibrations (e.g. soaking time for most of Dimensional items is from 8 hours to 24 hours).
  • Total time taken to perform the calibration
  • Calibration process (manual or automated)
  • Technical requirements e.g. uncertainty in calculation/analysis, adjustment and so on
